Dr Claudia Globisch

Dr Claudia Globisch studied Sociology, Literature and Philosophy at FAU Erlangen-Nuremberg (Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg) and at Duke University, NC/USA. She completed her PhD at the University of Erlangen in 2009 with a thesis on antisemitism from the far-left and the far-right in Germany.

Between 2007 and 2010, she was a research assistant at the Institutes of Sociology at the University of Erlangen and the University of Leipzig/Germany. Since 2011, she was assistant (junior) professor at the Institute of Sociology at the University of Innsbruck/Austria and coordinated the area „Applied Methods of Empirical Social Research“.
In March 2019, she was a visiting scholar at Goldsmith College in London, UK. Since July 2019, Ms Globisch has been a researcher at the IAB, where she is conducting research on the „Participation Opportunities Act“ and the social consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic. Her research focuses on processes of inclusion and exclusion, (social) political governance and relational autonomy of individuals and institutions.

In addition to social policy and poverty research, with special emphasis on the interface between counselling and mediation in the labour administration, her research focuses on right-wing extremism and antisemitism (on the World Wide Web and social media) as well as qualitative methods of empirical social research. She is currently doing her habilitation on the topic „Between Autonomy and Heteronomy. The Unemployed of the Activation Society“.
