Dr Jan Frederik Carl Gellermann

Dr Jan F. C. Gellermann is a Senior Researcher with a focus on labour market and social policy. He is part of the IAB’s Regional Research Network North Rhine-Westphalia. His academic studies concentrated on the planning and evaluation of social services as well as social counselling. He has held research and teaching positions at the Chairs of Social Policy and General Sociology II at the University of Siegen (Germany), where he worked on the qualification and labour market integration of migrants receiving social benefits, as well as on young people facing difficulties in the transition to the world of work.

His research interests at the IAB include implementation analyses and evaluations of labour market programmes, qualification and labour market integration of benefit recipients, as well as holistic support and social counselling approaches. A further focus of his work lies in the professional advisory support of actors in active labour market policy.

Currently, Dr. Jan Gellermann conducts research on the development of the German basic income support system, the German Participation Opportunities Act, as well as job-coaching and holistic support approaches within the welfare-to-work system.
